Services - Research - Digital Accessibility - Section 2
Creating accessible digital experiences involves understanding specific challenges faced by individuals with different abilities and designing solutions that address them thoughtfully and considerately.

To ensure we meet those goals, we follow the POUR Principles, which state that any digital experience should be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.

  • Perceivable: Ensure content is easily seen and understood.
  • Operable: Make interfaces easy to navigate.
  • Understandable: Present content in a clear, concise way.
  • Robust: Build experiences that work across various devices and assistive technologies.

We break this thinking down further to consider each disability category, finding solutions for each and baking them into the websites we build:

  • Visual

We ensure readability by providing high contrast between text and backgrounds, and adding captions and transcripts for videos. We can also test and optimize experiences for requested screen readers.

  • Mobility

We logically order our websites with large, well-spaced, clickable items to accommodate users with limited dexterity and slower response times while also striving to make our sites keyboard-navigable.

  • Auditory

To support users who are hard of hearing or deaf, we include captions or transcripts for videos and minimize background noise in audio.

  • Cognitive Learning:

We create clear and concise content with consistent structures and controls to pause videos and animations, catering to users with brain injuries, dementia, or dyslexia.
